St. Paul Inside the Walls, in collaboration with Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, Seton Hall University, is proud to offer a Certificate in Catholic Evangelization and Leadership (CCE), and is accepting applications for the 2023-2026 class.
Purpose
This unique program, taught over three years, seeks to transform Catholics into effective evangelists and spiritual leaders, equipping them to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to their homes, parishes and local communities. Students are automatically enrolled in the Certification in Parish Leadership, which equips CCE students to assist their pastors in building a vibrant parish.
3 Track Options
There are two CCE tracks to choose from:
Times
CCE classes are held on Tuesday evenings during the Fall and Spring semesters. Students from both tracks are automatically enrolled in the Certification in Parish Leadership, which meets four Saturdays per year.
Cohort Learning
A unique feature of the CCE program is that students take all of the same classes together for three years. Typical academic programs involve students choosing their own classes according to their own schedules, but the cohort approach allows students to enjoy a communal learning experience. The result is often authentic friendships and deeper learning.
Academic and Spiritual
CCE&L is a master's-level program with academic rigor, but it also includes a spiritual component that most academic programs do not have. Spiritual reading, prayer, liturgy, and other components make the CCE a fully human endeavor, engaging the mind, heart and will.

Cost

Scholarships
Parishioners registered at a parish in the Diocese of Paterson are eligible to apply for a 70% tuition scholarship through the Prepare the Way Leadership Formation Endowment, established by Bishop Frank Rodimer and many generous donors in the 1990s. Applying for this scholarship requires the recommendation of your parish pastor. It is customary for parishes to contribute an additional 10% of the CCE cost. With both the Prepare the Way scholarship (70%) and the parish contribution (10%), CCE students may pay as little as 20% of the total tuition.* Recipients of this scholarship are asked to pledge a minimum of three years of service to their parish or appropriate Catholic institution following the completion of their coursework. To apply for this scholarship, contact Brian Honsberger.
Parishioners from other dioceses seeking master's credit also have access to tuition discounts. Contact Dr. Dianne Traflet for details.
*For master's-track students, non-tuition-related semester fees, such as the technology fee and books, are not covered by the Prepare the Way Leadership Formation Endowment. See the application for further limitations and details.

One of our CCE graduates spoke about her experience:
"The CCE program exceeded my expectations. The scope of knowledge shared was impressive and of tremendous value. From gaining greater understanding of the theological and scriptural foundations of evangelization, to navigating the practical application of principles at the parish level, this program served as a springboard for advancing the mission of evangelization throughout our diocese and beyond."
"The icing on the cake was exposure to over 50 intelligent, committed classmates from many different parishes (and varying parish cultures) within our diocese. The CCE program created an opportunity to share insights, challenges and successes, and resulted in bonds of faith-based friendship that otherwise would not have been likely."
