St. Paul Inside the Walls established an outreach to lawyers and judges in 2008, with the hope of helping them integrate their faith into their practice of law. It is now a very active ministry, hosting several events per semester. 

Our Outreach to Catholic Lawyers has sponsored multiple engaging events:

 

• “Religious Freedom in the Constitution and in Federal Law" presented by United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito

 

• "When Mature Christianity Meets the Letter of the Law" presented by Mary Rice Hasson, Esq.

 

• "Moral Truth Matters" presented by Professor Robert George, James Madison Program 

 

• "Mock" trials conducted by actual attorneys and judges, entitled Holley vs. Knot: The Trial of God and The Trial of St. Peter

 

• Modified "Oxford-style" debates, including"Harry Truman in the Court of Conscience"

The Outreach to Catholic Lawyers has initiated Advocati Christi, Catholic lawyers and judges who have entered into an elite fellowship of those who are committed to both the legal profession and the profession of their faith. The membership includes seasoned Founding Fellows, Fellows who act as mentors and guides, and Fellows Elect who are in the process of becoming members. The Fellowship’s home is at St. Paul Inside the Walls, the Catholic Center for Evangelization in the Diocese of Paterson, located in Madison, New Jersey.
