The Diocesan Youth Leadership Team (DYLT) is a special leadership opportunity that will equip you to become a more bold witness to Christ at your parish, school, and throughout our diocese.

You have been nominated for this role because of the joy, energy, and willingness you have shown in building up the faith in our Church. You are a blessing to your parish/school! Prior to submitting an application, please read all of the required qualifications to make sure that you can fully say “yes” to this responsibility. It is vital that you are able to fulfill your obligations. Please also discuss this commitment with your parents or guardians. We will notify you if you have been accepted to serve on the DYLT for 2024-2025. We are accepting applications through October 7, 2024. All accepted members of Diocesan Youth Leadership will be notified before September 30, 2024. Below is the schedule of training and events members of the DYLT will be expected to attend.

Diocesan Youth Leaders will help provide a connection between parish ministry and diocesan programs and events. Diocesan Youth Leaders will represent the youth of the diocese to bring their needs and concerns before youth ministry leaders from around the diocese. Finally, Diocesan Youth Leaders will also be encouraged to help create and lead ideas of their own.

The 2024-2025 DYLT will meet for an orientation day at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, 179 Baldwin Road, Parsippany, NJ on . We will gather to get to know one another, start preparing for the events of the year and pray as a team. We will notify you with more information if you are accepted to the DYLT. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us through our collaboration, teamwork, and leadership development.

 DYLT MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS 

Please reflect on the following qualifications prior to submitting an application: 

• Is a practicing Catholic in good standing with his/her parish 
• Demonstrates leadership ability 
• Possesses a willingness to serve along with a responsible attitude 
• Is willing and able to make a firm commitment to the duties of the DYLT
• Is of high school age, who will be entering grades 10,11, or 12 for the 2024-2025 academic year. 
• Has family support and encouragement (i.e. transportation to pick-up and drop-off, and an understanding of the commitment their son/daughter has made to their parish and the diocese). 
• Is willing to sacrifice some extracurricular activities, when appropriate, for the sake of commitment to the leadership team
